Violence hits west India, three killedProtesters from Dalit group, the untouchable people in Hindu society, took to the streets and clashed with the police in west Indian state Maharashtra Thursday, NDTV reported. At least three people have been killed in the chaos so far, the TV news channel said. In Osmanabad city of Maharashtra, one person was killed in police firing Thursday and a young protester was killed in a stone- pelting incident in another city Nashik Wednesday night. The TV news did not mention how the third one died. The protesters also set on fire five bogies of the train named Deccan Queen in Ullhasnagar city after asking passengers to get out, according to the TV footages. The police charged the protesters with lathi when they are burning the train. The riot broke out on Wednesday evening when a statue of B R Ambedkar, a renowned statesman who fought for the rights of the untouchable in India, were destroyed in Kanpur city in Maharashtra.
